VILNIUS – LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball arrived in Lithuania on Wednesday as they prepare to launch their professional basketball careers.
Their team wasted no time to cash in on the Ball brothers’ arrival.
Last week, we learned that their club team, Vytautas Prienai, planned to sell around 500 LiAngelo and LaMelo game jerseys on Amazon some time in January. That time ended up being the brothers’ first full day in Lithuania.
The jerseys launched on Amazon Thursday, and they aren’t cheap. The list price of $99 rivals what Nike charges for its NBA jerseys.
On one hand, the team certainly could have charged more for the jerseys. If LaVar Ball gets people to pay $500 for sneakers, Vytautas Prienai probably could have found fans willing to pay well over $100. But this is a club that charges around 7 euro for tickets — $99 is a lot for a Lithuanian jersey of players who will spend most of their time in the lower division Baltic League.
The brothers, though, were all business on Thursday and hit the gym.
