Lithuania’s president meets with British Prime Minister Theresa MayNovember 25, 2017
BRUSSELS – The fact that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was not attending the Eastern Partnership meeting in Brussels on November 24 is a result of Moscow’s decisions. This was stated by the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite, Delfi.lt reports.
Grybauskaite believes that this shows the same thing demonstrated by the military exercises – Moscow is the host , not Belarus and not Minsk.
Decisions on where to go are taken by Moscow, not Minsk, said Grybauskaite in an interview with LRT.
At the Eastern Partnership summit on November 24, Belarus was represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, despite the fact that the invitation was sent to Lukashenko.
Grybauskaite stated that the Lithuanian-Belarusian relations are complicated because of military cooperation between Belarus and Russia, especially during the exercises directed against the West, and also because the Russian company “Rosatom” is building an NPP in Belarus.
